On the 21st of June 2018 we are celebrating solstice. The word translates to “sun standing still“. As we can track cycles of the moon, we can track the sun's cycles as well. Solstice signifies a sacred turning point and a shift in the energy. It is a cyclically reoccurring natural event which has been celebrated by many ancient cultures since thousands of years.
The Mayans, Druids and Egyptians seemed to understand the significant of this event and built their temples and structures to capture that alignment. The head of Sphinx is crowned by the sun on the day of the summer solstice.
SUMMER SOLSTICE (northern hemisphere)
The sun is at its highest point over the equator, which creates an energetically opening, a portal. We are bathed by the full power of the sun, everything illuminates. Without Sun, no life would exist. We will receive a power boost, a push to complete our goals, to create whatever we desire and have been working in manifesting the last months.
We can recharge our life force energy, seeds we have planted can bloom. Feel alive, step outside, be in nature and honor the sun, our creator.
WINTER SOLSTICE (southern hemisphere)
The sun is at its lowest point over the equator, we have the least amount of light, the darkest day of the year. Everything comes in cycles and and the winter solstice calls on you to reflect, contemplate, and think about life. It is the stage before creating and birthing. We need darkness to acknowledge light. Sit with yourself, through learning to love and listen to yourself, you will feel at peace.
Through learning to celebrate the suns cycles as well as the moons cycles you integrate a more conscious lifestyle into you routine.
As mentioned above, all bigger ancient cultures were aware of those cycles, celebrating them. Create your own rituals to honor those energies. On December 20/21 summer and winter solstice will shift again. Enjoy!
